Links
Here are some useful links to friends and neighbours and other fellow-travellers in the astronomical world that you may find interesting and informative. They have all been checked for existence (as of October 2025) and content.
- DASH Astro
- Located just down the coast and based in the village of Darsham, they hold both 'speaker' meetings and observational ones. The observational meetings take place near times of full moon, and are a good time for beginners to come and receive advice about telescopes and so on. DASH have a special interest in spectroscopy for amateurs. They also have links with the wider community and are often to be seen at various fairs and similar events.
- Norwich Astronomical Society
- The NAS are the 'big beasts' in the region, with several telescopes for both member and public use at a dark sky site in South Norfolk. They welcome group visits (see the website for how to book a visit) and of course hold regular 'out of Summer' events. They also have a radio telescope for those who want to study the sky in another wavelength!
- Jim Kaler
- Jim, who died a few years ago, was LYRA's honorary president. A much-loved US professional astronomer with a host of awards, he was one of those great communicators who appears all too infrequently. The link above will take you to his stars page where we suggest you peruse the Places to Go section.
- Tereza Pultarova
- Tereza is a London-based science journalist who has given many talks to us, and we hope she will give more!
